The Decade of the Dude

Rolling Stone covers the Big Lebowski phenomenon. For the record I didn't this movie was that great, it might be that it presents a certain really refreshing take on regular interactions don't have to be mundane and predictable given the right cast of characters in ones life, but I suppose I was just too old to really fall in love with that idea in 98 - had it been 95 maybe I would have been over the moon about it.

For instance I really like Daniel Richler's show Big Life on CBC as a teenager, because in those suffocating teen years it presented a window into a richer world which existed. Just being exposed to that was a real morale booster.

Anyway, even though I personally don't think Big Lebowski is great, I am supportive of other people who do. Movies like it are the ones that should have great stature, and not crap like White Chicks.
