Conservation Voters of BC's Help Gary Lunn

Good job "Conservation Voters of BC". Last election the NDP finished second in the riding of Sannich Gulf Islands. The riding is one of the worst in Canada for vote splitting. What would make sense, support the candidate with the strongest chance at defeating Lunn? No. That would obviously make too much sense. The paradox is that this choice will encourage vote splitting, likely ultimately electing Lunn who supports offshore drilling and thus presumably the Conservation Voters are indirectly supporting a policy they should oppose. Moreover this endorsement wreaks of the worst cronyism of George Bush - support your friends (I believe the candidate they just endorsed was a founding member of some conservation group) whether they are best qualified or not.

Also for the record, I'm sure all of the opposition candidates in the riding are well intentioned and good people. The NDP candidate has credentials from Cal Tech and MIT. The one the Conservation Voters endorsed has training from some second tier school in the UK. Though these things aren't as simple as who has better credentials, my bet is that the NDP candidate is smarter than the others and that should factor into who people choose to support.

The University of Edinburgh is most definitely not a "second tier" university. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edinburgh_University

You may be right - but what the heck are you doing trolling the internet and sticking up for your opponent - get out there canvassing!

Thanks rt ... in fact I have been foot-canvassing today, and occupied with a number of other campaign events.

I didn't find this blog by trolling the internet; someone forwarded it to me in e-mail.

And finally, I like to address inaccuracies whenever I see them, whether that means "sticking up for" one of my competitors or not.

Thanks!
