TORONTO — A 19-year-old pregnant woman jailed for more than a week to ensure she would testify against her boyfriend was released on bail Friday after recanting her previous allegations that he repeatedly abused her.

Noellee Mowatt told a Toronto court she lied during a 911 call and police interview on Dec. 28 in which she claimed that 25-year-old Christopher Harbin had a history of beating her - often because of arguments over his alleged habit of incessant masturbation and his chronic unemployment. [emphasis added]

Also - so what Toronto, I know of 14 year old pregnant girls in jail, and I've got to believe there are others throughout the country which don't get press attention.
