Lesson from Oka
When protesters blocked the Mercier bridge to montreal during the oka crisis people were faced with a decision: longer drive to work or civil war. Of course they chose civil war, burning mohawk warrior in effigy etc. Let's hope the same decision gets made for the olympics - THE LUGE MUST OCCUR!!! It is a "once in a generation opportunity to assert itself on the world stage" says David Emerson - that quote would do justice to a government spokesperson for a dictatorial regime like China. Perhaps he's sick with yellow fever - divorcing his cracker wife to marry a Chinese woman - and it is clouding his thinking.
