Digg influencing the National?

In tonight's "the National" broadcast at least two items were about stories which had popped up on Digg a few days ago. There was a story about India's $2500 car, and then a story about the letters home a WWI solider wrote while at war which are now being published 90 years later to the day on a blog by his grandchild. I think on balance this is probably a good thing, if there is a connection, it will lead to more interesting news.
