In a clip from sex and the city there is a Carrie monologue which states "in the life of a new yorker there are several unpleasant things one will inevitably have to face: having your purse stolen, random public urination..."
I'm not a new yorker but hearing this did ring true. One time in new york while walking with my aunt and uncle to mail something at a mailbox we noticed a guy standing pretty close to it and looking bedraggled. On closer inspection he was peeing. Grotesque a touch, but also a tiny bit funny.
